Dress-Down Day (Special occasions TBA)

Out of uniform dress is only acceptable on pre-designated days. Remember, no tight jeans/pants, see-through/mesh clothing (without an appropriate undershirt), revealing clothing, short-shorts, short skirts, or clothing with inappropriate messages written or depicted on them.

Unacceptable Attire (Any Day)

Numerous bangle bracelets, gold teeth, chandelier earrings, stockings/tights with holes & rips as part of the style, loud & unnatural hair colors, excessive jewelry, tennis shoes (except for Physical Education), mid-drift shirts, and etc.

NOTE: If your child is caught out of uniform on regular uniform days or is deemed by administration as inappropriately dressed, they will:

  1. The student will be sent to the Administrator's Office for inappropriate dress confirmation
  2. Parents will be called to be informed of the situation and asked to bring the appropriate attire
  3. The student will wait in the front lobby until appropriate clothing arrives
  4. Once the appropriate clothing arrives, the student will be instructed to change clothes
  5. After the student is appropriately attired, they will be sent back to class

While awaiting the arrival of the appropriate attire, the student may miss parts or all of a class. This will be counted as an absence, and it will be the student's responsibility to make up any work missed, due to their absence in class.

Hair

Boy's hair should be masculine and neat in appearance (off the ear and collar,), and the bangs should not be any longer than the top of the eyebrows. Male students are expected to be clean-shaven. Boys may not have braids that form a "pigtail" in the back. Sideburns should be no longer than the bottom of the ear. Fad haircuts (Mohawks, and other extreme haircuts, or extreme hair coloring, etc.) are not acceptable for girls or boys.

The administration has the right to determine what is extreme.

Jewelry/Tattoos

Body piercing, other than earrings, for girls only, is not allowed. The administration will determine unacceptable piercing.

Tattoos are not permitted other than the wash off school spirit tattoos, sold for special events.

Footwear

Shoes must be tied. Shoes must be worn at all times for boys and girls. Socks are to be at regular length and not rolled down to ankles. No sandals, backless shoes, or flip-flops for grades Pre-K - 12. Tennis shoes may ONLY be worn for gym/P.E., if not ragged, excessively soiled, worn out, or neon colored. On out of uniform days, girls may wear shoes without hose, but the shoes cannot be backless.

Headbands and Hats

Headbands, bandannas, and hats may not be worn except for approved activities.

Out of Uniform Dress

Our appearance is also an important testimony to others at after-school functions. Therefore, the same dress code is requested at athletic events and other extra-curricular activities. Parents are urged to follow the same guidelines as their children whenever entering school, attending school functions, athletic events, etc. The administration is responsible for determining what is appropriate, moderate, neat, and/or extreme on an individual basis, and reserves the right to make a final determination on whether dress code is being adhered to or violated.

Please make sure you are familiar with what is acceptable dress and have your child comply. It is our desire that students obey the principles of the code because of personal conviction and love for Christ.

The following guidelines are in effect at all school activities and functions (at athletic events, concerts, PTM, field trips, etc.) once students are out of uniform:

  1. Clothing should be clean, neat, and modest.
  2. The staff has the authority to determine what is an appropriate and what inappropriate writing on clothing is. There are to be no negative, suggestive, or mixed messages.
  3. Some examples of inappropriate clothing are as follows:
    • Shirts or blouses that would expose a bare midriff with arms raised
    • Undergarments worn as outerwear
    • Skirts or dresses that are above the knee (including slits)
    • Shorts for girls in 7th - 12th grade
    • Tank tops (unless under approved blouse or shirt)
    • Muscle shirts or sleeveless shirts of any kind - a shirt or blouse will be considered sleeveless, unless the sleeves extend beyond a line created across the bottom of the armpits, when arms are at their side.
    • Halter tops
    • Stretch pants are pants that cling unusually tight
    • Sundress
    • See-through, unless clothing under layers conforms to dress code, or suggestive clothing.
  4. For some approved field trips, regular jeans (not tight or ragged) and dress pants will be allowed, but they are not to have rips or tears.
  5. We respectfully request that parents also abide by these guidelines when they are chaperoning students or attending any school activities.
  6. No head coverings, (i.e., hats, scarves, bandannas) will be worn during school hours.
  7. For special events. The dress code may be subject to change on an event-by-event basis, or by what is deemed appropriate by the administration.
  8. For spirit week, students are allowed to come out of their uniforms on one or more days; students, however, must follow the directives for each particular day. These will be given out the week before. Students who do not follow directions will have to change clothes or call a parent to pick them up. This will result in an unexcused absence.

Formal Dress Code

For formal events, such as the Junior/Senior Banquet and graduation, the following additional dress code guidelines must be adhered to, or students and/or guest will not be allowed to stay:

  • Below the knee (slits must be below the knee also)
  • No cleavage showing
  • No bare midriff
  • Back of the dress must be no lower than the middle of the back
  • No see-through, unless clothing under layers conforms to dress code
  • No tight, clingy dresses
  • Boys are expected to wear a tuxedo, suit, or sport-coat with a button-down dress shirt, tie, and dress slacks and shoes
